Facts On Breast Uplift Surgery

If you are a woman who is experiencing sagging and drooping breasts, you should consider having a breast uplift surgery. This procedure can make the breasts firmer and it can also reshape and raise the breasts up a bit. This can enhance your appearance and give you a younger looking figure. A breast uplift surgery can correct problems that result in sagging breasts.

Drooping breasts can happen for many reasons. Child birth and breast feeding are 2 of the most common causes of misshapen breasts. Weight loss, gravity and skin that has lost elasticity are a few more reasons why this can occur. Women who have this problem are more likely to suffer with low self esteem and depression because they feel like they are losing their femininity.

The procedure for a breast uplift surgery is called a mastopexy.  There are 3 different surgeries that can be done to repair breast damage and this all depends on the severity of the problem. The first surgery includes an incision around the areola. The nipple area can be slightly lifted and this surgery is used for women who only need a bit of lift. The second surgery involves incisions over the areola area and vertically under the breast area. This surgery is for women who need more of a lift and with this procedure there can be a bit of scarring that occurs. The third surgery is intended for women who have serious sagging problems. An incision is made over the areola and beneath the breast horizontally. There can be a permanent surgery scars from this type of breast uplift surgery but a plastic surgeon can also use other techniques to lessen these scars. This also depends on the severity of the damage.

There is a way to determine the extent of your sagging and drooping problems and you can do this at home. Stand in front of a mirror and remove your clothing. Use a pencil and place it under the breast lengthwise. If the nipple lines up with the pencil, you do not have a problem. If the nipple falls under the pencil line, this indicates a bit of sagging. The severity of the drooping has everything to do with what type of surgery will correct the problem. After you do this at home test, you can schedule an appointment with the plastic surgeon to discuss what surgery is right for you.

If you have smaller breasts that are sagging, the surgeon may recommend implants. These implants can also help raise the breast area and might even eliminate a bit of the scarring associated with a regular breast uplift surgery. The surgeon can also reshape and contour the breasts for an overall better looking chest area. You should always choose a reputable surgeon before having this procedure done.

Before you choose a surgeon, he should be a member of the American society of plastic surgeons. He should be used to doing your particular surgery and he should also have a full 6 years of surgical experience and 3 years of specifically doing plastic or cosmetic surgeries. He should be open to discussing your particular problems and he should always listen to your opinions. In turn, you should listen to his advice. If he thinks that you do not need surgery or that the surgery can cause any type of problem, you should not go through with it.

Even though there may be a bit of incision scarring, a breast uplift surgery can add confidence. You can enjoy your new breast shape for many years to come unless you become pregnant or lose or gain a significant amount of weight.
